Accomplishments
Local Priorities:
Ensured continued construction of famiy housing by obtaining $4 million for Adair Village wastewater treatment improvements. Procured $4 million to help repair and reopen Osborne Aquatic center. Ensured the use of modern methane monitoring tools at Coffin Butte Landfill.
Affordability:
Expanded the Oregon Earned Income Tax Credit for 200,000+ low- and moderate-income working families. Required utility companies to slow down their rate hikes and show good performance along with any rate increases. Cracked down on hidden fees on online purchases and ticket sales.
Education:
Invested in summer learning and early literacy programs. Supported reforms to stabilize Oregon’s higher ed system. Strengthened Oregon’s efforts to address chronic absenteeism.
Housing:
Prioritized Oregon families over corporate investors in Oregon’s housing market. Sped up development of affordable housing and housing for seniors.
Climate and Energy:
Accelerated siting of solar and wind energy projects. Supported a more resilient and efficient energy grid. Created industrial symbiosis pilot program to reduce waste, lower emissions, and grow local supply chains. Imposed tax on nicotine products to fund wildfire mitigation. Created new revenue source to support Oregon’s wildlife.
Protecting Oregon:
Prohibited cooperation with federal efforts to sell off Oregon’s public lands. Protected $300 million+ by closing federal tax loopholes.
Protecting Immigrants:
Enacted legislation to ensure students and families are notified when federal immigration officers are on school campuses. Increased accountability for federal law enforcement operating in Oregon. Protected personal data from being shared or sold for immigration enforcement. Strengthened Oregon’s anti-discrimination laws.
Healthcare:
Ensured doctors, not corporations, are in charge of medical decisions. Ensured Oregonians’ access to recommended, no-cost vaccines. Required coverage of cervical cancer screenings and exams and menopause care. Established a suicide prevention program for Oregon’s veterans.
Reproductive Healthcare:
Protected state funding for Planned Parenthood. Strengthened Oregon’s protections for providers of reproductive and gender affirming care.
Safe Communities:
Passed the Community Safety Firearms Act, banning rapid fire devices like bump stocks and authorizing local governments to keep firearms out of public buildings.
